When life gives you lemons, wear a yellow blazer

If there was ever a good time to buy a yellow blazer, it is now.

The Spring is inching its way in. The mornings are getting lighter, the blossoms are blooming and the magnolias are making themselves known. The wind no longer carries that bite which makes your nose tingle and manages to find its way through your windows and underneath your doors. There’s a little bit of joy in the air as we anticipate the lighter months ahead

But the wind isn’t lighter. In fact, the Spring winds tend to be much stronger than those of the Winter, sweeping through the trees as they grow their leaves again. And, of course, there’s rain. Drizzly and damp, sometimes hellish in its strength, yet always bringing that sense of refreshment as it reinvigorates the world around us

Yellow is a symbol of friendship. It brings a sense of optimisim, hopefulness, enthusiasm, englightenment and sunshine - all of which we want to experience in the Spring. Yellow clothing invokes all of these things too, delighting the senses and being colourful without being crude (although perfect for pairing with bolder tones should you want to). Yellow is youthfulness and happiness, confident yet comforting too

Of course, it goes without saying that a blazer is a transseasonal hero, and there are so many cuts and corners, suiting all shapes and occasions, that you can never really go wrong. A combination of the two undeniably makes sense, and that fact that The Row are retailing yellow suits, ALIGNE has twice sold out of its Daphne jacket, and I have just dusted off the shoulders of my butter-yellow suede jacket (purchased last year and loved ever since), well, there is clearly something yellow in the waters

If you are going to invest, boosting both your mood and your wardrobe, opt for barely-there buttercups, morning mimosas and creamy lemon-vanillas: colours that are versatile, confident and enough without being too much. Perfect
